Classic Lego Bricks Reimagined As Incredible Working Gadgets

If you're a child of the '80s, then you'll probably remember the classic Legoland Space series of bricks.

Manufactured between 1979 and 1987, the range included bricks shaped and coloured to look like computer screens.

How we wished they were real, working computers that our little astronauts could use.

Well, 30-odd years later, our wishes have come true. And on a bigger scale than our little brains could ever have hoped for. Swedish designer Love Hultén has crafted Brix System, an amazing range of eight oversize Lego bricks.

The 6:1 scale bricks have been reimagined as a fully-functioning range of gadgets, including a working telephone, retro gaming devices and several modular synthesisers. For the ultimate retro-toy supernova, the gaming bricks enable you to play games like Donkey Kong and Mario Bros. using giant two-piece Lego controllers. It's almost too much.

There's real artistry behind the nostalgia, too; each brick was hand-crafted by Hultén out of wood in his Gothenburg studio.
