18th century tweeting

LOL @GeorgeWashington

When furious critics lambast our current generation for being far too digitally candid with their every little thought, it's worth remembering to hate the game, not the player.

How would our ancestors have dealt with such technology? Imagining a world where textspeak and tweeting were as common as TB and, ermmm, tapestries (?), Shawn Huckins has added some 'yoof' phrases to various 18th century paintings so we can imagine the sorts of lollage that might have occured back in the day.

Now, if anyone can actually decipher all of these then you're either younger than us, cooler than us or probably both.
