It's not often that you get the chance to go for dinner with a celebrity. Unless you're married to one or you're a professional stalker of course.

So, when we offered you the chance to go for a Bhuna with Danny Wallace, the entries poured in. We wanted to hear your most awkward situation to see if it could rival Danny's unparalleled levels of awkwardness.

And to announce the winner, here's Mr. Wallace:

"There were some amazing moments of awkwardness from ShortList readers, which has made me feel much less alone in life. From accidentally peeing on laptops to stealing Chris Eubank's shoes to spending hours locked in women's toilets. But I liked the gentle suburban schoolboy nature of Josh Fowler's referee story, and I look forward to pressing him on the finer details of his awkwardness over curry. And I'll bring Colin."

Here's Josh's curry-winning story:

As a child I was new to playing Sunday League football and so was unfamiliar with the arm gestures of referees. After committing a foul (I still dispute this call) I saw the ref outstretch his hand in a handshake like gesture. Being the gent I was as a child, I shook his hand and went on with the game. Turns out he was just gesturing for a free kick and I was an ignoramus. My team mates laughed, the parents laughed and the ref laughed. I didn't. Needless to say, I don't play Sunday League anymore.

P.S. Yes that is a young Hugh Grant in the back row and no, it has zero relevance to the story
