So I’ve completed the latest Reacher – fantastic twists, tremendous action scenes and an outstanding baddie – this really is the finest for yonks.
 
It’s been a few days since I turned the final page and I’m still sitting in restaurants establishing escape routes, assessing the viability of the breadbasket as an offensive weapon and ordering ‘house brew’ coffee.
 
It’s not easy being trapped in the body of a suburban Dad while thinking like a highly trained military machine but that’s the price you pay for immersing yourself in Reacher-World. I think my lecture on contingency planning and the careful maintenance of firearms may have both bored and confused my children.
 
A number of fans have emailed asking for my advance review copy to be sent on once it’s finished.

To these people I have to say there is a prior claim from my boss and half the office here at ShortList HQ.

However we will be giving away five copies signed by Lee Child himself in April!
I will think up appropriately testing Reacher questions.

About to be interviewing Lee again soon -this will be another fearlessly probing encounter. Absolutely determined to control the nervous, high-pitched laughter which marred our last conversation…
