The Press Photographer's Year

There's been a lot to talk about in the past 12 months: the global financial meltdown, the Beijing Olympics, Jordan and Peter. Without the photographers who work tirelessly to capture images of these momentous events, things would be very dull indeed.

The Press Photographer's Year awards picks the finest images used by British media. More than 300 photographers based in over 20 countries throughout Europe, Asia and America submitted 7,788 photographs for the competition, now in its forth year.

ShortList has obtained a collection of the photos to be exhibited in the Lyttelton foyer of the National Theatre on London’s South Bank from 4th July to 31st August.
