Aside from the ineffably annoying Jar Jar Binks, the recent Star Wars reboots lacked the imagination shown by its ‘70s originals. Right now, it seems that sci-fi is better seen through retro eyes, exactly the reason it’s a stroke of ingenuity by Italian illustrator Franco Brambilla, to digitally retouch vintage postcards and add a movie alien or two. Brambilla tells ShortList: “My digital collage is done by putting 3D models I make into vintage postcards that I buy from street markets. I then digitally repaint the scenes. I now get postcards from friends and flickr contacts to add some aliens.” See below for a gallery of Invading The Vintage.
Signed Giclee prints are available on request from Francobrambilla.com with the option of vintage frames.
